The University of Victoria Vikes men are in fifth place and the women are in fourth after Day 2 of the 2012 Canada West swimming championship

The Vikes swam in several finals and posted several CIS qualification times.

#Siobhan Newell# won the B final of the 400-metre IM to finish ninth overall, posting a CIS-standard time of 5:02.28 - Newell was the second-to-last Vike to qualify for the CIS championship, showing the depth of the women's squad. She also placed fourth in the women's 200-metre freestyle consolation final, with a time of 2:07.96.
 
In the A final for the women's 200-metre backstroke, #Allison Wood# knocked three seconds off her personal best time to finish fifth at 2:17.13. Eleanora Dalling and #Emily Gerson# raced in the same final, taking 7th and 8th spots respectively, while #Julia Schmidt# improved on her strong swim from the morning and won the consolation final in a time of 2:24.82.
 
Three Vikes women competed in the in the 100-metre breaststroke finals. #Stephanie Taekema# continued her best-time streak at the meet and took eighth spot in the A final. #Elizabeth Sissons# and #Danielle Newton# finished fourth and seventh respectively in the consolation final.

UVic's women's 4x100-metre freestyle relay team finished in fourth spot.

#Ian Mattock# and #Eric Stein# competed in the A final of the men's 400-metre IM and finished 5th and 7th respectively. #Ian Brown# won the consolation final in the men's 100-metre breaststroke with a seasonal best of 1:05.47.

UVic's men's 4x100-metre freestyle relay team finished in fifth spot.
