VICTORIA - #Debbie Yeboah#'s buzzer-beater ended the no. 1 ranked Simon Fraser Clan's 54-game winning streak, as the no. 6 UVic Vikes women's basketball team came out on top of a 63-61 decision at McKinnon Gym.

With the game clock winding down, Yeboah broke down her defender and knocked down a jumper from just outside the elbow to spoil Simon Fraser's bid for a perfect season and give the Vikes their ninth straight win.
Yeboah, a sophomore from Winnipeg, scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half of UVic's regular season finale.
"We're feeling very confident right now, which is perfect for playoffs," said Yeboah. "We just got to continue this run we're having, and keep playing the way we can. No one can stop us when we do."
The loss was the first for Simon Fraser since October 31, 2008, when UVic defeated the Clan 58-57 at McKinnon Gym. The Clan's 54-game streak included the 2008-09 CIS Championship, as the program captured their fourth title.
On Saturday afternoon, the Vikes were forced to play from behind. Simon Fraser owned a 34-21 lead at the half, and midway through the final quarter the Clan led by six. But with three minutes remaining, the Vikes ended the contest on a 10-2 run that was capped by Yeboah's game-winner.
#Kayla Dykstra# also came up big for the Vikes scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. #Vanessa Forstbauer# added 11 points, including the game-tying basket with 1:22 remaining. The Vikes shot 55 percent from the field in the final two quarters, atoning for a second quarter in which they scored just four points.
Simon Fraser's Robyn Buna led the visitors with 18 points on 7-12 shooting. Katie Miyazaki added 14 points and dished out six assists. Laurelle Weigl chipped in 12 points and added five 'boards.
Next up for the Vikes is the Canada West Playoffs, which run February 25-27. McKinnon Gym will host the no. 4 ranked Saskatchewan Huskies in a best-of-three series, with the winner advancing to the Canada West Final Four.
