UVic Athletics has established itself as a leader in Canadian University Sport, having won 65 championships to date, yet the gap between what UVic is able to offer financially to recruits is markedly different than our competitors, particularly in Western Canada.
In order to maintain Vikes Athletics as a program that remains in the top 10% of Canadian Universities, we must become more competitive in awarding Athletic Financial Awards (AFAs). In the highly competitive recruiting world, AFAs are a significant determinant for prospective student-athletes in choosing their post secondary destinations.
The 4th annual Vikes Championship Breakfast event in McKinnon Gym, on
September 27th, 2011, is your chance to support Vikes Athletics and bolster the Athletic Financial Award revenue for our valued student-athletes. Last year’s event raised $330,000, which helped our student athletes realize success in the classroom and field of competition.
