CORVALLIS, Ore. - The coxed four was victorious and the eight lost by the narrowest of margins, as the UVic Vikes women's rowing team went head-to-head against the Oregon State Beavers.
The Vikes 4+ cruised to victory on Saturday at Dexter Lake, toppling Oregon State by three seconds.
It was the lone victory for the Vikes, who also endured a tough loss in the eight. Oregon State held on for a 1.63-second margin in the race, and also won the second varsity 8+ and novice 8+.
The Vikes will now turn their attention to the Brown Cup and re-claiming the trophy from UBC. Last year UBC ended the Vikes record-run of 16 consecutive victories. This year's installment takes place on March 27th at Elk Lake.
