Three Vikes to help Canada in World Cup Qualifier

VICTORIA - Two current members of the UVic Vikes women's field hockey team and one alumna have been named to Canada's roster for the World Cup Qualifier 2010 scheduled for later this month in San Diego.

#Katie Collison#, a 2009 CIS all-Canadian and UVic captain, was named to the squad of 18, joining Vikes alumna Ali Lee. Lee was a four-time CIS all-Canadian at UVic, and 2005 CIS Player of the Year. In addition, Vikes sophomore #Danielle Hennig# was named a team reserve.

The troika helped the Vikes to CIS gold in 2008 with Collison and Hennig both scoring in the 2-1 gold medal victory over Alberta. Collison and Hennig also helped UVic to CIS bronze at last year's championship.

Team Canada must win the qualifier in order to earn a spot in the DO FIH 2010 Women's World Cup scheduled for September in Rosario, Argentina. Canada is set to face traditional Pan American rivals Mexico and the USA, with Belgium, France, and Korea also part of the qualifier.
