WINNIPEG - Four members of the UVic Vikes men's and women's track team captured first place finishes at the Manitoba Indoor Games at the Max Bell Centre.
Daniel Mallie won the 1000m,
Claire Jean won the 1500m,
Karl Robertson won the men's 1500m, and
Cliff Childs took top billing in the 3000m.

Mallie bettered the CIS qualifying standard in the 1000m, winning the race with a time of 2:26.31. His standard ranks third in the national ranks.
Jean took top billing in the 1500m race, finishing in 4:34.84, while Karl Robertson won the men's 1500m in 3:55.37. Teammate James Barnes was close behind, but missed out on the podium, placing fourth with a time of 4:01.60.
Childs won the 3000m, crossing the line in 8:34.42.
Deidre Moran took second in the women's 3000m, setting a new personal best with a time of 9:59.11.
Brittany Therrien also picked up a third place finish in the 1000m, with a time of 2:59.14. Teammate
Lauren Beaulieu was fourth in 2:59.81.
Next weekend the Vikes will travel to Seattle for their third meet of the year. The Husky Classic takes place on February 14th and is the final meet before the Canada West conference championship, which runs February 26-27.
